KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Jim Wichman
Jim Wichman is a highly accomplished education administrator with over 30 years of administrative experience in both urban and rural public school settings. Having grown up in poverty and even experiencing homelessness, Jim is acutely aware of the challenges that students and educators face every day. His wealth of experience at various levels of education and in diverse settings has provided him with a specialist perspective. Throughout his career, Jim has demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering collective efficacy within each school he has served. His innovative and dedicated approach, focused on "Respecting, Supporting, and Valuing," has led to ongoing improvements for students, staff, parents, and systems.
Joy Kelly
Joy Kelly is the co-author of Handle with Care: Managing Difficult Situations in Schools with Dignity and Respect. Joy has more than twenty-five years of educational experience in public and parochial schools as a teacher, coach, mentor, associate principal, and principal. In 2015, Joy was named the Iowa Associate Principal of the Year. She also provides coaching and training for new administrators in Iowa. Joy serves as a leadership coach for administrators across the country on behalf of J Casas & Associates.
The OASSP/OMLEA Leadership & Learning Conference is two full days of professional development geared to the needs of secondary and middle level administrators and teachers. Both days include powerful keynote speakers followed by breakout sessions for both classroom practices and leadership strategies. Special emphasis is given to middle-level instructional tools and practices.
