CCOSA Summer Leadership Conference

The CCOSA Summer Conference is the premier conference for Oklahoma school administrators at all levels. The CCOSA Conference encompasses all public school administrators from each association under the CCOSA organization (OASA, OAESP, OASSP, OMLEA and ODSS).

OASA Legislative Conference

Come join Oklahoma's education leaders as they promote the CCOSA Legislative Agenda for the upcoming legislative session. Members of the Oklahoma Legislature will participate in panel discussions covering education policy and funding.

OAESP Mid-Winter Conference

Become the leader, you know you can be by attending this OAESP premiere event. The annual one day conference supports building level principals, assistant principals, leadership teams and elementary education directors by providing pertinent information on current issues impacting elementary education.

The 2022 OAESP Mid-Winter Conference will be held February 10, 2022 at the Edmond Conference Center.  Registration is open now. 

OASSP/OMLEA Leadership & Learning Conference

Come join us at the OASSP & OMLEA combined Leadership & Learning Conference in February! This two-day event is organized with two full days of breakouts and keynote speakers focused on both secondary leadership and classroom practice, specifically on middle school best practices! Education leaders and teachers will leave with with valuable insights, inspiring ideas, and connections with peers and corporate partners from across Oklahoma.

Boot Camp 1: Basic School Finance

Focuses on school fund structure, the components of the state funding formula, critical sections of the Estimate of Needs, advanced and basic budgeting techniques and Ad Valorem taxes.

Boot Camp 2: Advanced School Finance

Focuses on state revenue projections, fund balance management, monitoring state revenues, other funds (bond, sinking, child nutrition, and building) and development of the school budget. 

Budget Bootcamp 3: Advanced School Finance
Presented by CCOSA & Vernon Florence Consulting Company
The workshop will focus on advanced school finance formula projections, multi-year revenue and budgeting projections; School District Budget Act.

State Revenue & the State Budgeting Process
Learn how the State Board of Equalization projects state budget income for FY22; understand state funds and how revenue shortfalls occur; what are appropriated funds versus non-appropriated funds (apportioned) and the legislative challenges around these differences.

Early Career Superintendent Deep Dive
This meeting targets second - fifth year superintendents. The format is a collaborative zoom utilizing three breakout sessions. The session topics will be led by an OASA staff person or experienced school leader. This is a DISCUSSION workshop not a presentation. Staff will give ideas, but this is a chance to hear from your peers. You may participate in any or all of the breakouts.

New Principals Academy Program
The New Principals Assistance Program format provides you with a “support group” in these early critical years of your career.  This is an outstanding program that provides solutions to the frustration and the conflicts that develop in the principalship effectively bridging the theoretical/practical gap.

Principal & Superintendent Certification Exam Preparation 
Workshop provides participants with an overview of the COEE OSAT's for the school administration areas. In addition to dissecting and analyzing the subject area study guide, close attention will be given to the tests' required writing assignments.

Principal Coaching and Mentoring: Sustaining and Supporting School Principals *NEW*
Designed to provide tools for individuals that supervise principals or individuals that mentor other principals.  This training will give participants tools to use when mentoring other leaders to provide thoughtful guidance.

ODSS First-Year Directors
Presented by CCOSA & the Oklahoma State Department of Education
New first-year special education directors are eligible to participate in the First-Year Special Education Directors Project, a joint effort of ODSS/CCOSA and the State Department of Education, Special Education Services section. The purpose of the Project is to help support first-year directors as they learn the requirements of their new job.

Emerging Leaders Academy

Reaching and Teaching Children Exposed to Trauma with Dr. Barbara Sorrels

School leaders and teachers are invited to this two-day training of understanding trauma and developing strategies for stronger classroom and learning environments for trauma-exposed students. Participants will gain a stronger understanding of the systems, approaches, and processes that allow children at any age to progress in learning and achieve skills for a successful, nurturing school experience. 

Creating Uplifting Classrooms:  Providing Support for Early-Career Teachers 

How are you supporting your early-career educators? CCOSA and the K20 Center have partnered to provide valuable training and support. 

The K20 Center has developed the “Uplifting Classroom Environment” model. Its goal is to provide early-career teachers with a number of practical, research-based tools and activities to help them to begin teaching successfully. This professional development’s objectives come from this model and will introduce participants to a multitude of strategies that actively engage students in rigorous instruction that can be delivered in a face-to-face format or modified to an online format.

CCOSA offers a Fall Law Day and Spring Law Day each year with information ranging from superintendent contracts to new laws and how they are implemented at the district and school level.

Review the 504 process from start to finish, look at the EdPlan forms that correspond to each step and spend lots of time on making 504 evaluation, eligibility and FAPE decisions.

Tulsa Model Re-Certification

Virtual Training      or       In-Person Training    or           Career Tech ReCertification

This 1/2 day of training fulfills the requirements for Oklahoma TLE programs recertification training for all administrators in their chosen model two years after their initial training. Recent research in teacher evaluation has demonstrated that continued training is necessary in order to improve the reliability and validity of all evaluation systems.

Tulsa Model New Administrator Training
Presented by CCOSA & Barlow Education Management Services
This two-day training will cover both Process Training and Calibration Training. Upon completion of the training, and passing the test, participants will be certified in Tulsa Model Process and Calibration Training.
 

McREL Re-Certification
This NEW McRel Recertification has been designed to include SREB findings that school administrators can benefit from more in-depth support in the areas of time-management, calibration, and managing hard conversations in the Teacher Leader Evaluation process.

McREL New Administrator Training
Measure what matters most, this two-day training is being offered for new administrators. Upon completion of the training, attendees will be certified to evaluate administrators.

The Praxis Performance Assessment for Teachers ( The PPAT) hosted by OEQA

The Praxis Performance Assessment for Teachers (PPAT) is replacing the OPTE as the certification exam assessing teacher candidate professional knowledge.  As this assessment is performance based, its design differs from the computer-centered OPTE. 

To assist districts in learning how to support their teachers with this new assessment, OEQA has organized a “PPAT Roadshow” hosting PPAT informational meetings across the state.   Below are times and locations that are offered for district representatives ( we recommend 1-2 from each district) to attend.
