As the state’s preeminent membership association for school administrators, CCOSA, the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration, serves as Oklahoma’s most active and trusted voice in education policy, practice and leadership, communications and shaping public policy and public opinion to ensure Oklahomans have the best public education system available.

CCOSA is announcing the opening of the Communication and Marketing Director’s position. This person would guide the research, development, implementation and evaluation of CCOSA’s integrated strategic marketing communications plan and would serve as CCOSA’s media contact.


Education, Qualifications, Requirements and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or Marketing required with successful 5 or more years of business, state agency, association or public school district administrative experience preferred along with experience in preparing and leading training. Job location is in Oklahoma City at CCOSA office.

Salary: TBD, at will position

Reports to: CCOSA Executive Director

Major Job Responsibilities: (Refer to attached job description for a more detailed description.)

  • Guides the research, development, implementation and evaluation of CCOSA’s integrated strategic marketing communications plan.
  • Conducts ongoing market research and develops key messages, platforms and tactics for all CCOSA stakeholders.
  • Creates and implements a branding strategy that enhances CCOSA’s reputation and supports the mission, vision, beliefs and goals.
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends faced by public education and non-profit associations, and shares strategies for addressing them with CCOSA and its members.
  • Collaborates with membership services and the executive directors of each association to effectively market membership, conferences and professional learning opportunities.
  • Creates and maintains relationships with the media to ensure news regarding CCOSA is being shared with appropriate audiences.
  • Serves as lead point person on media interactions and proactively pitches relevant stories to the media statewide.  This includes developing, writing and distributing news releases and media advisories about CCOSA and responding to media requests.
  • Oversees the development and production of all print and online marketing and communication collateral. to support the CCOSA brand and strategic direction.
  • Creates a robust social media presence, by managing the development of a social media editorial calendar and overseeing the production of new content for digital media for the CCOSA website and social media channels.
  • Coordinates and manages all special events for CCOSA and its affiliated organizations.
  • Provides communications training for CCOSA member districts.
  • Provides support for improved internal communication and customer service systems and processes at CCOSA.
  • Demonstrates superior written, verbal communications and organizational skills.
