The Power of Student Teams
The Power of Student Teams Workshop
Achieving Social, Emotional, and Cognitive Learning through Academic Teaming
Join us Feb 25th at the CCOSA training center to hear and see how Student Academic Teaming is making a difference in teacher practice and the culture of learning that students experience every day. Some common themes in OK districts’ strategic plans are: college and career readiness, SEL, students who are critical thinkers, equity, collaboration, student voice, student growth, and inclusiveness. These are wonderful goals but how are schools actually accomplishing this? A big steps towards these goals is changing the student experience and the teacher’s role in the classroom.
Going beyond traditional ‘grouping or cooperative’ strategies of the past, Student-Led Academic Teaming increases equity through access for diverse student populations where social, emotional, and cognitive learning (SECL) are not just learned but lived everyday by students. SECL is built into this core instructional approach and can be used with any curriculum or program a school is using. Teachers should not be the hardest working ones in the classroom and we will discuss the learning and resources needed to make this a reality.
The session is free and includes lunch and a copy of the new book “The Power of Student Teams”.
