The Directors of Special Services (ODSS) provide local special education directors an opportunity to collaborate, problem-solve and participate in professional development.
GOALS
To maintain a voice at the state department level with respect to special education regulations and procedures.
To serve our respective chief school officials in whatever capacity needed to ensure a full understanding of principles and practices in special education.
To thoroughly discuss critical issues and develop position statements on issues related to serving exceptional children.
To provide an arena for informal discussion and a vehicle for information dissemination for our membership.
To provide leadership in the administration of local district or cooperative district special education programs for children eligible for special services. To maintain a voice at the state department level with respect to special education regulations and procedures.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Oklahoma Directors of Special Services is to provide a forum for discussion of issues relating to the direct delivery of services for exceptional children in the public school setting. Discussions and actions relate to challenges in the administration of special education programs and the impact of state and federal regulations.
