Overview of Training
Re-training will be one- half day of training for superintendents, principals, district office administrators, and assistant principals in the McREL Balanced Leadership Principal Evaluation process. We will provide principals with a review of the following:
- the three components of the Balanced Leadership Principal Evaluation model
- the rubric
- the process and procedures for evaluation
Further we will provide review of sample goals, action plans, and artifacts to engage participants in comparison and analysis of the samples provided. Working in small groups the participants will determine the level on the rubric of the sample materials. They will also determine types of assistance that could be provided to an administrator who had submitted the sample materials. Review and discussion of these samples will assist principals and assistant principals in writing goals, action plans and artifacts. It will help superintendents and principals in becoming more adept at rating those they supervise and in determining ways they can assist in their development.

We will use small group activities throughout the session. Small groups will work with sample documents throughout the training. Participants will leave the training with sample correspondence, timelines, written expectations and sample goals, action plans and artifacts that they modify for their own use.
SearchSoft and the Oklahoma State Department of Education will also provide information about the 5 point scoring rubric and interpretation of the Administrator Value-Added Results Report.
The cost is $60.00 per person for a half day of training.
